Very nearly all quality guitars have an adjustable truss rod that runs down the length of the guitar's neck. Usually there is a channel that is routed down the center of the guitar neck that is situated directly beneath the fretboard. The truss rod is then loosely set into the channel with the only attachment being at the opposite end from the truss adjustment nut. There are three types of truss rods...
