Last night David and I were invited by Darion and his new man Gary to attend a small dinner party to celebrate the recent engagement of our dear friends Emma and Josh. Gary generously hosted us at his home and cooked THE most amazing meal. We ate and laughed and drank and ate, sang and danced and … oh yeah, we ate. A fan-effing-tastic time was had by all!

Gary cooked THE best vegetarian lasagna I’ve ever had and Darion baked the best cupcakes ever. Garion proved that they could be fantastic dinner party hosts. I’m certain Emma and Josh really appreciated the meal in their honor.

This afternoon, I’m meeting up with Irene, Ollie and Caleb for brunch and then later on there is talk of a video game party at Darion’s place. Happy Sunday to one and all!! xo

Very few reporters and anchors have come out as being gay to the public while still performing their duties. Not only that, but even fewer have written books about their lives in a completely open fashion, despite fears of being shunned and public backlash.

This is what makes Don Lemon so inspirational.

It might have taken him 45 years (he looks much younger, mind you!) to come out publicly (literally to the public, close friends and family have known, including some coworkers at CNN), but he is not holding back any longer. His book tell of his struggle as a gay man reporting the news in the public eye, and having been molested as a child. Nothing is too personal.

And it took him a while to come to that point, there were definitely hesitations. But, as a reporter through and through, he felt it was his duty to hold himself, his own story, to that journalistic standard and give everyone the whole, unfiltered story:

“I’m scared. I’m talking about something that people might shun me for, ostracize me for. It’s quite different for an African-American male. It’s about the worst thing you can be in black culture. You’re taught you have to be a man; you have to be masculine. In the black community they think you can pray the gay away.

I abhor hypocrisy. I think if you’re going to be in the business of news, and telling people the truth, of trying to shed light in dark places, then you’ve got to be honest. You’ve got to have the same rules for yourself as you do for everyone else.”

We are definitely behind you 100% in your decision to write this book. The strength it has taken to do so can't be calculated, and we support you!

Not only that, but, it's wonderful to hear that you support others in the gay community coming out:

“I think it would be great if everybody could be out. But it’s such a personal choice. People have to do it at their own speed. I respect that. I do have to say that the more people who come out, the better it is for everyone, certainly for the Tyler Clementis of the world.”

We hear that, Don. It was such a tragedy what happened to Tyler, who tragically committed suicide after his roommate leaked footage of a homosexual encounter on the web.

You truly are someone to look up to, and we applaud you! Hope the book, Transparent, does well!

Today we learn that two more roles have been cast in the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games … the unnamed tributes from District 10. Like their predecessors, these nameless tribute roles have been filled by unknown newcomers. Jeremy Marinas will play the boy tribute from District 10 and Dakota Hood will play the girl tribute. Read below for the known deets about these latest additions to The Hunger Games.

Lionsgate announced on the adaptation’s Facebook page the identities of the film’s District 10 tributes. Jeremy Marinas has been cast as the unnamed quiet boy from District 10, whose most notable characteristic is his limp. Dakota Hood has been cast as the District’s unnamed female tribute. Marinas, like many other Hunger Games tributes, has performed stunt work, for the likes of The Green Hornet and the Sherlock Holmes sequel. He’s also had roles in series like Mortal Kombat: Legacy and The LXD: The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, and even had a bit part on Community. Hood has only one credit to her name: The 2007 movie Scripture Cake: A Southern Cuisine Movie. Marinas and Hood join Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Paula Malcomson, Willow Shields, and several relatively unknown actors playing fellow tributes. Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross and adapted from Suzanne Collins’ dystopian novel, will be in theaters March 23, 2012.

This casting should be the end of the newcomer actors. The final pair of tributes from District 2 are named — Cato and Clove — and are among the 8 tributes competing in The Hunger Games with any real storyline. They will likely be cast by known actors … and the announcement of who will play those roles should come soon (tomorrow?). There are still other big character roles to fill … but for the most part, the film is already pretty much cast. I can’t wait to find out which character roles will be announced next.

Tom has been performing his show all over the WORLD lately and last night it was LA’s turn to see his amazingness live on stage. During the audience participation portion of the show, Tom‘s BFF and Buffy co-star Alyson Hannigan appeared on stage to join in the fun. While Aly‘s inclusion was fun, it is Tom‘s mastery of comedy (and song and dance, kinda) that really make this show a must see. Tom shares funny stories from his tenure on Broadway and manages to make you feel his pleasure … and pain. The show is really fantastic … if Tom Lenk comes to YOUR town you MUST see his show live. I understand that Tom *may* be doing another performance here in LA next month … keep your peepers peeped. Tom Lenk‘s Nerdgasm is NOT to be missed :D

WHY ARE PARENTS STILL BRINGING THEIR CHILDREN TO THESE ESTABLISHMENTS?!

Three masked, armed men held up a California Chuck. E. Cheese Saturday night, herded the 40 employees, customers, and CHILDREN into a storeroom, and held them at gunpoint while others successfully robbed the place!

According to Newark Police Sgt. Manuel Deserpa, they began receiving 911 calls around 10pm, but by the time authorities arrived, the suspects had escaped. Since the men all kept their faces covered, they could not be ID'd.

He explained:

"Our detective division will be following up on this. They will be working this case."

We certainly hope so! These men need to be apprehended and locked up!

We can't even begin to imagine how terrifying this whole ordeal must have been for those poor children.

We think it's about time Chuck E. Cheese just cut their losses and shut down!

There's no way this business is going to survive many more incidents like this!
